Heating & Ventilation Apprenticeships
Heating & Ventilation apprenticeships are specifically designed for those wishing to work, or are currently working, within the building and mechanical engineering service sectors.
The apprenticeship covers all aspects of the sector including:
- Mechanical Engineering Services Core Studies
- Domestic Installation
- Maintenance of System Components
- Ductwork
- Rectification of Systems
Heating & ventilation apprenticeships are at Level 2 and 3. This training will develop practical and theoretical skills and knowledge to allow candidates to demonstrate a level of competence and be assessed so that they meet National Standards at NVQ level 3, providing opportunity to apply practical skills needed with the trade area covering such aspects as:
- health and safety
- plan Heating & Ventilation work activities
- install complex Heating & Ventilation systems
- service & maintain Heating & Ventilation systems and components
- design Heating & Ventilation systems
- prepare and install piped systems by welding (commercial only)
Additional optional units may be selected relevant to employers needs, but are not mandatory to complete the apprenticeship, e.g. ACS certificate of competency, additional costs may be incurred.
TTA offer two delivery patterns:
- Program Led
Trainees without an employer spend 6 months in-centre where they will achieve a level 2 technical certificate in Heating and Ventilation followed by 3-6 months in an employer placement where they will achieve the relevant NVQ.
At this stage TTA will work with the trainees to locate a suitable employer where they can progress onto the next level of the apprenticeship.
- Employer Led
Trainees with an employer will attend the training centre on a block-release pattern and will achieve an advanced apprenticeship.
All are subject to an initial assessment of skills and capabilities. Places are offered subject to satisfactory completion of the initial assessment. Candidates will be assessed through the use of examinations, practical and theory assignments. Completion of a portfolio of evidence from assessment within the workplace including on site assessment will be required to complete the NVQ.
Employers
TTA offers employers a recruitment service to meet their apprenticeship requirements. We have a pool of learners completing a full level 2 framework in Heating and Ventilation who we can recommend. These learners will start immediately on an advanced framework with TTA for a period of 2 years becoming fully qualified at this time. This reduces the time employers have non qualified staff.
