Electrical Training Courses

Trade Training offer a range of electrical training courses for new and existing electricians looking for electrical training to qualify and meet current regulations.

We offer the following electrical training courses:

City & Guilds 2382 - 17th Edition

Trade Training’s City & Guilds 2382 course also referred to as the 17th Edition has been updated in time for the new regulations to take effect. The update means the City & Guilds 2382 supersedes the City & Guilds 2380 and 2381. From the 1st July 2008, any electrical system designed must conform to the new 17th edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations.

The two City & Guilds 2382 courses are coded as 2382-10 and the 2382-20. Both examinations are open book and the individual is allowed to use the IEE Wiring Regulations Seventeenth Edition 7671: 2008. Our City & Guilds 2382 course covers the syllabus of both courses.

The 2382-20 electrical training course is provided so any individual who has sat the City & Guilds 2381 since the IEE wiring regulations BS7671: June 2001 can sit a short course and upgrade from the 16th edition to the 17th edition. It has a shorter examination lasting 1 hour and consisting of 30 multiple choice questions. Candidates are required to bring a current copy of BS7671:2008 (Red book) and a copy of the On Site Guide With them for use on this training course.

Please note: Proof of current qualifications will be required prior to registration of this City & Guilds 2382 course.

The City & Guilds 2382-10 electrical training course is provided so any individual can learn the complete 17th edition of the IEE Wiring regulations BS7671:2008. It has an examination lasting 2 hours and consisting of 60 multiple choice questions.

Part P Electrical Training

Part P was introduced in January 2005 and is a part of the building regulations series on carrying out electrical work in domestic properties. Part P is enforceable in the same way as any of the other building regulations and the body who police it, at local level this is your building control office. The defined scope Part P award is designed to prove competence for Heating & Vent, Plumbers and other associated trades on electrical work they may carry out.

Some of the work covered on the Part P course is:

  • Replacement or installation of immersion heater and controls.
  • Replacement and installation of an electric shower or shower pump.
  • Installation or replacement of macerator units.
  • Earth bonding requirements in bathrooms, shower rooms or kitchens.
  • Central Heating controls.
  • Extension of ring mains

Upon completion of the Part P award the candidate can self certificate electrical work that falls under Part P of the Building Regulations act. The Part P award lasts for five years. Thereafter the candidate will need to be reassessed.
